Join us for lunch, fellowship, worship, and an encouraging word from Houston Heflin as he speaks on “Spiritual Disciplines That Might Just Save Your Life.” Someone once said that we choose our habits, and then our habits shape our character. That’s because what we do repeatedly over time changes us, whether that’s preaching, prayer, worship, or spending time with our family. But what if the disciplines we need change as we get older? We’ll explore some of the practices for formation in every season of life, and we’ll illustrate how these “Jesus habits” might just save your life.
Our regional Equipping for Ministry gatherings aim to equip church leaders with tools for ministry, to provide them with times of fellowship and worship with other leaders, and to build ongoing relationships with other congregations in their area. All of these are so important during these difficult times, when so many church leaders feel alone, isolated, and frustrated.
Please RSVP so we can order enough lunch and set out enough chairs!
Special Guest: Houston Heflin
Houston and his wife, Karen, have been married 28 years and have four children. He teaches courses on spiritual formation and ministry for ACU’s Department of Bible, Missions, and Ministry and Graduate School of Theology. Additionally, he serves as director for the Siburt Institute's Contemplative Ministers' Initiative. Houston has authored several books and articles on spiritual disciplines, including Pray Like You Breathe: Exploring the Practice of Breath Prayer, Teaching Eutychus: Engaging Today’s Learners With Passion and Creativity, and most recently Faith in Mirrors, a book of mirror poems based on the life and teachings of Jesus. He frequently visits churches for preaching, teaching, consulting, and seminars in the area of spiritual formation.
