Join us for breakfast, fellowship, worship, and an encouraging word from a fellow church leader, David Wray, as he speaks on “The Most Dangerous Virus in Our Churches.” In times of challenge and conflict, church leaders are often susceptible to anxiousness and indecisiveness. Instead of spreading the virus of anxiety, spiritual leaders prayerfully manage their own fears, emotions, and words while pastoring throughout the disruption. This presentation focuses on best practices for church leaders to remain a non-anxious presence in the midst of congregational interruptions.
In light of the current COVID-19 situation in the Panhandle region, and to mirror current practices at ACU, we encourage vaccinations and masking. Further, our meeting room will be set up to promote physical distancing.
Registration closed on September 18, enabling us to order enough breakfast and set out enough chairs.
Our regional Equipping for Ministry gatherings aim to equip church leaders with tools for ministry, to provide them with times of fellowship and worship with other leaders, and to build ongoing relationships with other congregations in their area. All of these are so important during these difficult times, when so many church leaders feel alone, isolated, and frustrated.
Special Guest: David Wray
David Wray is an elder at the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. He served for 20 years in congregational ministry before transitioning to teaching and leadership in ACU’s College of Biblical Studies. After retiring from ACU, David served as the interim director of ElderLink and later as director or co-director of Summit. As a consulting partner in the Siburt Institute for Church Ministry, he works with churches in the areas of staff relationships, best practices for spiritual transformation, strategic planning for church mission and vision, and equipping church leaders in their pastoral role.
