Sent Out

Who are the people with whom God Has joined Your journey?

I envisioned these disciples walking dusty roads together, sent out in pairs to heal, proclaim, and embody the nearness of the Kingdom. I wanted to explore visually the beauty of men and women sharing ministry. Perhaps some were married couples. Perhaps others became like siblings bound together through Jesus. Though seemingly sent out with nothing, a third shadow appears as a quiet nod to the Spirit traveling with them. The same Spirit that hovered over creation now moved through ordinary bodies, empowering healing and announcing the birth of a new Kingdom.

Sent Out

Eyes closed,
imagination dreaming,
painting women
back into the scene.

Two shadows sent out,
stretch long on the dusty road,

Look closer—a third shadow:
the Spirit once again
hovers over the waters—
of a new kingdom.

Paired in the text,
paired for the journey,
two disciples given authority,
taking nothing,
yet bringing healing.

Imagine women—
standing tall like towers
in the castle of the King;
not quietly at home,
but walking dusty roads,
traveling beside him,
prophesying about him,
anointing him King,
spreading the euangelion
that a new Kingdom is here.

For reflection:

Who are the people with whom God has joined your journey—friends, spouses, siblings, or unexpected companions—and how might their presence be part of your calling rather than simply companionship along the way?

Where is Jesus inviting you to see ministry not as something you do alone, but as something you are meant to embody and share with other men and women?

If you truly believed the Spirit travels with you and empowers ordinary men and women, what might you risk doing, saying, or becoming that you would not attempt on your own?
